My original watercolor moth is on 100% cotton cold press 140 lb watercolor paper. It is acid free, and features a deckled edge. The paper is naturally wavy from the water used to create it, which creates a lovely shadow and natural feel in a frame.

Cecropia moths are the largest moths in North America, with a wingspan of up to seven inches. When I saw a photo of this beautiful, fluffy moth, I knew I had to paint her! Moths and butterflies must struggle to get out of their cocoons, building a strength without which they would not be able to fly. To me, the moth has come to represent strength through adversity.

size: 12”x 9” (imperfect edges make measurements approximate)

I have shown this piece in a 16”x13” frame, floating to feature the deckled edge.
